Tips and suggestions for first-time or new presenters

The mission of the NRBC is to provide a regional platform for original or recently presented research related to improving burn care.  This conference also serves as an opportunity for attendees to gain experience creating, writing, presenting or moderating at a professional conference.

Some recommendations when preparing a podium presentation:

  1. Read and follow instructions under Abstract Submission section
  2. Consider your target audience when preparing content
  3. Excluding Title and subtitle slides, allow one minute discussion per slide
  4. Limit number of words per slide, using large font (28 or 32) size for bullets, check spelling!
  5. Practice your presentation to ensure all major points are covered within the designated timeframe (12-13 minutes discussion, 1-2 minutes for Q&A)
  6. Consider including contact email for anyone interested in more information
  7. Remember, you are the expert on the subject you are presenting, and the audience wants to learn more about what you have to share!
