November 10-11, 2019
The Northeast Region Burn Conference will be held Veteran’s Day weekend, November 10-11, 2019 in
Portland, Maine. All members of the burn care team are encouraged to attend this multidisciplinary
conference. New research will be presented along with opportunities for discussion of current burn
topics and networking with your colleagues. There will be offerings for physicians, nurses, NPs, PAs, PT,
OT, mental health providers, first responders and students.
The current ABA President, William G. Cioffi MD, FACS from Rhode Island Hospital, will offer a
presidential address. Plenary sessions will discuss post discharge burn recovery, mobilization in the ICU
and pain management strategies in the setting of the opioid crisis as well as a presentation by local
firefighters. Breakout sessions will cover topics on special populations, nursing competency and
alternative pain management. Original scientific abstracts will be presented on a variety of topics.
Controversial issues in burn care will be debated via a Pro/Con debate which you will not want to miss.
There will be pre and post conference offerings. On Saturday, November 9, 2019 there will be an all-day
burn rehabilitation course and the ABLS Provider course. On the afternoon of Monday, November 11,
2019 the ABLS Instructor course will be offered.
